2 1/4 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. (12 oz.) choloate chips
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Scoop out approximately a tablespoon of the mixture and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375º for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks and let cool.

Pan Cookie Variation: Prepare cookie dough as above. Spread into greased 15x10 inch jellyroll pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on wire rack.
