3 egg yolks, beaten
1 c sugar
1 1/2 c graham cracker crumbs
Pinch salt
1 tsp baking powder
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 c walnuts, cut up
1 pkg dates, cut up



Topping:
2 pkg jello
4 c liquid
Fruit cocktail (use juice as part of liquid)
Cool whip
Maraschino Cherries

Directions:

Mix crumbs and baking powder thoroughly. Mix eggs yolks and sugar. Mix with crumbs. Mix egg whites, walnuts, and dates. Add to previous ingredients. Press into greased pan. Bake 1/2 hour at 350º. Cool. Dissolve jello in hot liquid, and add fruit cocktail. Let stand until slightly thickened. Pour over cake. Cut into squares when ready. Top with cool whip and a cherry.
