2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 t. salt
6 T. butter
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
1-1/2 t. baking powder
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 T. milk
sugar for decorating

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, baking powder and slat. Set aside. Beat the sugar with the butter and shortening. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla until light. Stir in flour mixture. Divide in half, wrap in plastic wrap and chill. Preheat oven to 375º. Rol one half of the dough at a time on floured surface to 1/8" thickness. Cut into desired shapes and gently transfer to ungreased baking sheet. Decorate with sugar. Bake 7-8 minutes until edges are pale brown. Cool on wire rack.
