1 c barley
12 c water
1 to 2 c raisins
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix barley and water. Cook in covered pan for 1/2 hour. Add raisins, vinegar, sugar, and salt to taste. Put vinegar in first, and add sugar, 1 tsp at a time. Simmer 2 1/2 hours. Refrigerate. When serving, heat through and serve warm.

Sometimes I cook raisins in part of the water for 15 minutes. Then add raisins and juice to barley and remaining water.
