Crust:
1/2 c margarine
1/4 c shortening
1 c brown sugar
1 3/4 c flour
1 c old-fashioned oats
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda


Filling:

4 1/2 c apples, peeled and coarsely chopped
3 tbsp flour
1 pkg (14 oz) caramels
3 tbsp oleo

Directions:
Directions:
Cream margarine, shortening, and sugar. Mix flour, oats, salt, baking soda. Add to creamed
mixture. Reserve 2 cups. Put remaining mixture
in ungreased 9 X 13 pan, and pat down. Mix apples and flour. Put over crust. Melt caramels
and oleo. Drizzle over apples. Top with reserved
oat mixture. Bake at 400º for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cool and cut into bars.
