1 cup dates, cut up
1 1/2 cup hot water
2 tsp. baking soda
1.2 cup butter
1 tsp. salt
1 cup walnuts
2 eggs
1 cup dugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the first six ingredients in one bowl, pouring the hot water over the dates. In another bowl mix the remaining ingredients (eggs, sugar, flour and vanilla). Combine the two bowls and stir together. Pour the mixture into a greased loaf pan and bake for about 40 minutes at 350 º.

This is another recipe from the files of Aunt Susie Morcone. My Mother used to say this was the BEST recipe for Date Nut Bread!
