1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tbl. pineapple juice
6 slices pineapple, drained and cut into wedges
1/3 c. butter
maraschino cherries, optional
1 pkg. white OR lemon cake mix

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13" pan.
Spread sugar evenly in pan and sprinkle with pineapple juice.
Arrange pineapple wedges and cherries (if using them) on sugar mixture. Dot with butter.
Prepare the cake mix as directed. Pour batter carefully over fruit mixture in pan.
Bake for 55-60 minutes. Cool cake in pan for 5 minutes. Then invert pan onto plate or tray and let stand for 1 minute before removing pan.
