Sauce:
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. water
1/3 c. lard
1 ts. cinnamon
1/2 ts. cloves
salt
1 c. raisins

Sauce for Cake:
1 c. sugar
1 Tb. flour
1 Tb. butter
1 pt. boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Sauce:
Put sauce ingred. in saucepan and boil 3 min. Let cool. Dissolve in 1/3 c. hot water and 1 ts. soda.
Add mixture to 2 c. flour with 1/2 ts.baking powder. Bake in loaf pan 45-60 min.

Sauce for Cake:
Boil ingred., keep stirring. Let cool. Add 11/2 ts. lemon flavoring. Pour over cake slices at serving time.
