1 C dry split peas rinsed
4 C ham or chicken broth
1/3 C chopped onion
1/3 C diced carrots
1/3 C. diced celery
1 med. potato diced
1 C. diced ham

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover and allow them to simmer for 45-1hr. until peas are tender. Stir occasionally. Taste before adding salt and pepper. Some ham is really salty. Allow to cool some then use a blender and chop for a few moments. Just so there aren't big chunks. Then reheat and serve.

This is easily doubled. The recipe came from the pea company when Todd was growing peas.
You can make your own broth by using 1 C. of hot water and 1 tsp. of chicken bouillon.
