2 C. flour
10 tsp. sugar, divided
1 tbsp. grated orange peel
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/3 C. cold butter or margarine
1 C. dried cranberries (craisins)
1/4 C. orange juice (can be frozen)
1/4 C milk or 1/2 and 1/2 cream
1 egg
1 tbsp. milk

1/2 C. confectioners sugar
1 tbsp. orange juice

Combine flour, 7 tsp. sugar, orange peel, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside. In a small bowl, combine cranberries, orange juice, milk and egg. Add to flour mixture and stir until a soft dough forms. On a floured surface, knead 6-8 times. Pat dough into an 8" circle. Cut into 8 wedges. Separate wedges and place on ungreased baking sheet. Brush with milk: Sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 min. or until lightly browned.

I use the dried orange peel you can buy in a jar made by Spice Island. I also mix some cinnamon in with the sugar that is sprinkled on top and I'm sure I use more than the 3 tsp.

The recipe can be doubled (why bother with only 8).
They freeze well.
