4 cups chicken broth
3 cups tomato juice
1-1/2 cups dry lentils, rinsed and drained
1 cup beer
1 medium carrot, chopped
1/2 cup chopped onion
4 cloves chopped garlic
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. dried thyme, crushed
1/2 tsp. dried rosemary, crushed
1/2 tsp. white pepper
12 oza. smoked bratwurst, sliced
2 medium sweet potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch cubes

Directions:
Directions:
In large Dutch oven combine the first 11 ingredients. Bring to boil and then simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Stir in bratwurst and sweet potatoes, simmer, covered, for 25 more minutes.
Remove bay leaf.
Ladle into bowls and enjoy with sour-dough garlic bread.
