2 cans of sauerkraut
1 head of shredded cabbage
1 lb onion
1 32 oz can of tomatoes ( I use homemade crushed or stewed)
2 cloves of garlic
4 large bay leaves
1 cup of parsley
1/2 qt of Ginger Ale
1 Beer
2 lbs of Kielbasa
Spare ribs (country style)
3 green apples

Directions:
Directions:
In a large stock pot, grease the bottom with butter and then add the flour on medium heat. The flour should come out like a thick paste. Place spare ribs with salt and pepper and lightly brown in the bottom of the pan. Add chopped onions to bottom of pan and saute until brown in color. Drop in the tomatoes, layer the sauerkraut, cabbage, and all of the spices. Bring to a very fast boil. Add the ginger ale and the beer and the brown sugar. while, constantly stirring. Add pepper and the bay leaf. Place the rest of the ingredients in the pot and stir on medium to low heat. Continue to simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours.

My Uncle Gene shared this wonderful family recipe with me a few years back. I use a crock pot for the recipe. Working Moms, this is the easiest served with a loaf of bread and butter.
