1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces)
8 lg eggs
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup milk
2 tbs brown sugar
1 tbs vanilla extract (use the good stuff)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
dash salt

Praline Topping (recipe follows)

Directions:
Directions:
Slice French bread into 1 inch slices. Arrange slices in a generously buttered 13 x 9 pan, forming 2 rows of bread, slices overlapping each other.
In a large bowl whisk together, eggs,cream,milk
sugar,vanilla,cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour egg mixture over slices, making sure all slices are covered. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
The next day preheat ove to 350º spread praline topping evenly over the bread and bake for 45 min. untill puffed and golden brown, serve with maple syrup.

This is a southern recipe, my paternal Grandmother made it for us when we were in Arkansas in 1974. She served it with smoked bacon, grits and fruit. It's fattening but oh sooo good.
