3/4 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. each salt and soda
3/4 buttermilk
3/4 c. chopped nuts, opt.
Grated rind of 1 lemon
1/3 c. fresh lemon juice
1/2 c. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and eggs in bowl. Add flour, salt, soda, buttermilk, nuts, and lemon rind; stir until just mixed. Spoon into greased loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Turn onto waxed paper-covered rack. Glaze with mixture of lemon juice and 1/2 cup sugar. Cool completely on wire rack.
