1 c. applesauce
1/2 c. margarine or butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. dried cherries
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans, opt.

Directions:

Heat applesauce in saucepan over low heat until hot. In a large mixing bowl, cream together margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Alternately beat in dry ingredients and applesauce. Fold in dried cherries and nuts. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8x4x3 inch baking pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 60-70 minutes or until bread tests done. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing.
