"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Heat sour cream, stir in sugar, salt, and butter, then cool. Soften yeast in warm water in large bowl (about 110 degrees), add sour cream mixture and eggs, then flour. Mix and knead in bowl - cover and let rise until doubled. Divide into 4 balls, roll out each into a rectangle 12 x 8, spread filling in center. Roll like a jelly roll, fold ends under and place on greased pan, seam side down. Slit top with knife @ 2" intervals, cover and let rise till double. Bake @ 375º, 15 minutes, glaze when warm.
Eat the bread warm; if it has cooled, heat it in the oven for a few minutes so the bread softens and all the flavors meld.

Personal Notes:
This was a wonderful Christmas or Easter morning treat Elizabeth made many times. I (Sherri) made it last on December 23rd, 2008, and Alex and I ate almost an entire loaf as soon as it came out of the oven.
It's a bit of work, but worth it since you end up with a couple of loaves for your house, and a couple of loafs to wrap and give as tasty Christmas or Easter gifts. Be sure and tell the lucky recipients to heat the bread before devouring it!
