1 cup butter or margarine
3 cups sugar
3 cups plain or cake flour
6 eggs
8 oz. sour cream
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1T vanilla flavoring
1T lemon flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time. Sift flour, soda and salt together. Add to butter mixture, alternating with sour cream. Add vanilla and lemon extract. Bake at 325º for one hour 15 minutes. (check with toothpick after 1 hour for doneness)




To make a Rum cake glaze:
1 stick butter or margarine
1/4 cup rum
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water


Mix together and boil about 3 minutes.
(Glaze will look like syrup.)
Pour over and around hot cake in pan.
Leave in pan 1 hour before turning out on a plate.

I love this recipe as it is from my Great Grandmother Mintz, my mom's grandmother. She made up this recipe. She used to bake birthday cakes for everyone. Iced, this cake is awesome!
