3/4 c. sugar
5 T. cornstarch
1/2 t. salt
3 c. milk
2 egg yolks
1/2 t. vanilla
2 T. butter or margarine

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in medium saucepan or double boiler. Add milk and stir until smooth. Cook over medium heat to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir egg yolks just until blended. Add a small amount of hot milk mixture to egg yolks, stirring constantly, then gradually add egg yolk mixture to hot mixture, stirring constantly. Return to a gentle boil and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter. Pour into a glass or plastic bowl and cover with plastic wrap or waxed paper, lightly touching the surface to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate.

To make this recipe chocolate pudding: Prepare vanilla pudding as directed, mixing 1/3 cup cocoa into the dry ingredients before adding the milk. Increase butter to 1/4 cup.

Also, I LOVE this chocolate pudding recipe! It is even good right off the stove! SO GOOD! Use it for inside cream puffs also!
