4 c. sugar
1 c. light corn syrup
3/4 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
3 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Mix sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in 2 qt. casserole.

Cook in microwave for 19 minutes (on high) - stir every 5 minutes - when time is up you an test with candy thermometer - if it registers 260 degrees it's ready - or test for hard ball in cold water.

While syrup is cooking, beat egg whites stiff in large bowl. Gradually pour syrup over egg whites and beat at high speed until it loses its gloss (12 minutes). Add vanilla and nuts and drop on wax paper.
