2 lbs. round or check steak, cubed a bit smaller that a sugar cube.
1/4 cup oil

Sear meat until browned ( gray is probably more precise)

Then add:
1 - 12oz can of beer
1 cup water
1/3 cup ground dried chili powder
1 - 10oz. can tomato puree
1 clove of finely minced garlic or 1 tsp. of garlic powder
1 onion, finely chopped or brought to an applesauce consistency in a blender
1 tsp. ground oregano
1/2 paprika
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cumin

Add these ingredients to the meat and stir occasionally, but try to keep the lid on the pot as much as possible. Simmer about one hour.

Then add:
1/2 to 1 tsp. red cayenne pepper (depending on your taste)
1/2 tsp. cumin

Cover again and simmer for another hour.
