Syrup:
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
3 Tbsp. butter

Crust:
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

6 apples, peeled, and cored (keep whole)

Sugar and cinnamon mixture:
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp.cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. Syrup: Combine in saucepan, sugar, water, and cinnamon.Bring to a boil. Add 3 Tbsp. butter. Crust: Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add milk and mix until moist. Roll out dough and cut into 6 squares. Place a pared and cored apple in center of each square. Fill cavity of each apple with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Dot each apple with 1 Tbsp. butter. Fold dough over each apple. Place in pan, pour syrup over dumplings.
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes.
