2 sticks of margarine or butter, softened
1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup of granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 ½ cup of flour
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 teaspoon of baking soda
½ teaspoon of salt
3 cups of Quaker Oats
2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup of crushed walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Mix sugars and butter in a large bowl. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Beat into mixture. Stir in oats. Stir in chocolate chips. Bake 10 to 12 minutes (until edges are slightly golden) on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Cool for a couple minutes and remove from pan (to a wire rack or container—do not stack cookies until they are completely cooled or they will clump).
