4 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp salt
1/3 tsp nutmeg
6 lbs tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 c cornstarach
2 tsp cinnamon
3 T lemon juice
10 cups water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients except lemon juice and cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Add lemon juice to this syrup. Pack apples into hot jars, adding syrup as you fill the jars leaving 1/2 inch headspace at top of jar. Adjust lids. Process in boiling water bath (pints for 15 minutes, quarts for 20 minutes)º

To Make Pie Pour 1 quart apple pie filling into pie crust. Top with another crust. Slit top for steam to escape, seal. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes.
