4 c. quick cooking rolled oats
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter or margarine
2 eggs, beaten

Directions:
Directions:
In medium bowl, combine oats and baking soda. Set aside. In a large saucepan, combine brown sugar, shortening and butter. Stir over low heat, until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in dry ingredients. Add beaten eggs, mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet--3 inches apart. Stir remaining batter often. Bake at 375º for 6 - 7 minutes. Cool completely before removing from pan.
