"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
After browning meat, add onion and cook until tender. Add seasonings, green beans & tomato sauce. Pour into 1 1/2 qt. casserole dish. Mash hot potatoes, add milk and egg. Season. Drop in mounds over meat mixture. (Delicious to sprinkle with 1/2 c. grated cheese). Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes.

The homemade mashed potatoes are great; however, instant mashed potatoes also work well.

Mom prepared this recipe the first time I ate at the Walker household and it has been my favorite ever since. She made a great impression on her future daughter-in-law. In fact, that's why I married Mark--ha!
