2 c Flour (all purpose)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1.2 c Solid Vegetable Shortening
1 1/2 c Sugar
2 Eggs
2 Bananas (ripe, mashed)
1/4 c Buttermilk
1 tsp Vanilla
1 c Black Walnuts (chopped)

Frosting:
1/2 c Butter (softened)
1 c Dark Brown Sugar
1/3 c Heavy Cream
1 tbl Vanilla
16 oz Powdered Sugar
2 c Black Walnuts (finely chopped)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cake: Stir together flour and baking soda, set aside. Using an electric mixer, cream together shortening and sugar until lgiht and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in mashed bananas, buttermilk ad vanilla. Add flour mixture mix until combined. Stir in walnuts. Pour into cake pan and bake for about 35 mins until toothpick comes out clean. Meanwhile, prepare frosting. Melt butter in small saucepan. Add brown sugar and 1/3 c cream. Cook until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Transfer to a large bowl. Uisng mixer and beat in powdered sugar a little at a time until smooth. If frosting is too thick add more heavty cream. Frost cake and garnish with walnuts.
