1 cup sifted flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt. Add brown sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla; beat well. Stir in rolled oats and walnuts. Form dough into small balls. Dip tops in a little sugar. Place on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
