6 slices of bacon
1 large onion finely chopped
1 clove of garlic minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground pepper
2 (4 oz) cans chopped mild green chilies
4 (15 oz) cans black-eyed peas
1 (14.5 oz) can beef or chicken broth
1 (10 oz) can diced tomatoes and green chilies

Directions:
Directions:
In a large stock pot, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp then transfer to paper towels to drain. Crumble bacon and add onion, garlic, salt, pepper and green chilies to bacon drippings in pot. Sauté until onion is tender. Add bacon and remaining ingredients. Increase heat to medium high for 10-15 minutes stirring occasionally.
