2/3 C. Sugar
3 T. Shortening
4 T. Baking powder
1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Clove
2 Eggs
1 C. Milk
1 tsp. Salt
4 C. Flour (sifted)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and milk. Mix well, mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon,clove, and salt. Add dry ingredients in egg and milk mixture, slowly mixing as it is added be sure to scrap sides of bowl. Turn out a small amount on a slightly floured board and roll to 1/2" thickness. Cut with a doughnut cutter. Fry in deep fryer at 375º until brown. Turn over and cook other side until brown. Let drain on unglazed paper.Then sprinkle with sugar.
