5 C. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 C. butter or margarine
1 C. shortening
2 C. packed brown sugar
1 C. sugar
4 eggs
3 tsps. vanilla
4 C. semisweet chocolate chips
2 C. chopped walnuts (opt.)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375º. Stir together flour, soda, and salt. In a mixing bowl beat butter and shortening on medium speed until blended. Add sugars, and beat until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to mixture, beat until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 8 to 10 minutes or till done. Cool on rack.
