3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour or 3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups milk
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 9-inch baked pastry shell
1 small carton sweetened strawberries
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
In saucepan, combine sugar, flour or cornstarch, and salt; gradually stir in milk. Cook and stir over medium high heat till bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir a moderate amount hot mixture into yolks; immediately return to hot mixture; cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Pour into cooled baked pastry shell. Cool. Dissolve cornstarch in water. Bring strawberries to boil and gradually stir in cornstach to thicken. Put thickened strawberries on top of vanilla cream pie. Cool.
