Directions:
Cream together butter, sugar, egg and vanilla. Mix all dry ingredients together with wire whisk and add to creamed mixture. Shape dough into 1" balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Push one cherry firmly on top of each cookie.

Topping: (Note, this goes on BEFORE baking)
1 6 oz. pkg. semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 C. sweetened condensed milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 to 1-1/2 tsp. cherry juice
In a heavy pan over low heat, melt chocolate chips with condensed milk, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat, add salt and cherry juice, stirring until smooth (mixture should be fairly thick). Spoon enough topping on each cookie to cover the cherry completely. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 4 doz.

Personal Notes:
I thought this cookie sounded intriguing as I love chocolate covered cherries, and it is fabulous. They are also a favorite on my Christmas trays and freeze well in layers with waxed paper between layers.
