Crust:
3/4 c butter or margarine
3/4 c brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 c flour
1 1/8 c quick cooking oats

Filling:
50 light caramels
1/3 c evaporated milk
1 c chopped walnuts
1 c chocolate chips

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Mix crust ingredients together. Reserve 1/3 cup of mix for topping. Press remaining mix thinly on the bottom of a 9x13-inch rectangle pan that has been well greased. Place the caramels and milk in a double boiler. Cook over water until caramels are melted. Layer the filling: chocolate chips; walnuts; and melted caramels. Take the reserved topping and crumble over the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown. Cool slightly before cutting.
