2 pkgs. yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
5 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in water. Scald milk. Add butter, sugar, salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add flour to make a thick batter. Add yeast, eggs. Beat well. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise until double in bulk(about 2 hrs.). When light, punch down, shape into desired shapes(I braid mine) and place on baking sheets. Let rise until double in bulk (about 1/2-3/4 hr.). Bake in 375º oven 25-30 min. Watch.

This is a German recipe from my great grandmother. My mother always made it around the holidays and gave it away as gifts. You can make it in regular loaves but we always braided it. It is the same base recipe used to make Stollen.
