1/2 cup butter (4 oz.)
1 1/2 cup granulated sugar (12 oz.)
3/4 cup milk
2 cups flour (8oz.)
2 level teaspoons K. C. baking powder
1 cup nut meats, chopped fine
Whites of 4 eggs, beaten dry

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour and baking powder together three times. Cream the butter, add the sugar; then alternately the milk and the flour mixture; lastly the whites of eggs and the nut meats. Bake in a sheet, or shallow, pan thirty or forty minutes. When cold, cover with the icing and decorate with whole nut meats.

I found this recipe in Lillian Godwin Brown's collection of Godwin letters and other papers at Judy Brown Hutcherson's home. It was in a stack of other papers from Nollie's. I'm sure another brand of baking powder could be substituted if you like.
