1/2 cup buttter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp almond extract
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sour cream
1 8-ounce can whole cranberry sauce
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Preheat oven to 325. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Add almond extract. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with sour cream to the butter-sugar mixture.

Put half the batter into a greased 10" springform pan. Spread the cranberry sauce over the batter. Add the rest of the batter and sprinkle the top with the almonds.

Bake for 1 hour, then cool for 15 minutes before opening the pan and removing the coffee cake.
