1 pkg Yeast, dissolved in 2 tbsp lukewarm water
**5 cups Self-Rising Flour
3/4 cup Shortening
**2 cups (about) Buttermilk
1/2 tsp Soda
1/2 cup Sugar

**In place of Self-Rising Flour, you may use All-Purpose by adding 3 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp salt.
**In place of Buttermilk, you may use 2 cups Sweet Milk + 1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar per cup

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk to dry ingredients. Knead enough to hold together. Refrigerate until needed. Biscuits may be frozen; used as needed. Let rise 1 hour
