4 quarts cucumbers
6 med.onions
3 trays of ice cubes
1/3 cup salt (pickling)
5 cup white sugar
3 cups vinegar
1 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp.tumeric
1/4 c. pickling spice
1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed

Thinly slice cucumbers and onions. Mix with salt. Alternate layers with ice cubes.Set for 3 hours. Drain. In a sauce pan combine vinegar, white sugar, tumeric, celery seed, mustard seed, and pickling spices (pickling spice should be in cheesecloth bag) and bring to boil. Pour over sliced vegetables. Bring to a boil again. Vegetables will turn to a yellowy-green colour. Put in hot sterilized jars and seal.
