3 heaped cups all purpose flour
3 heaped tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
Handful of sugar (1 tbsp)
1/4 to 1/3 cup shortening
2-2 1/2 cups buttermilk

Blend dry ingredients together. Add buttermilk. Mixture should be on the stiff side. Roll dough to 1" thick. Cut out biscuits. Bake at 350º for 18 minutes.
