1 1/2 c. raisins (add water, steam until soft, cool)
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
3 to 4 T. milk or water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare raisins and let cool. Cream together shortening and sugars. Add in eggs, milk and vanilla, blend well. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the first ingredients. Add the oats, raisins and nuts last. Roll into walnut size balls or spoon drop onto pan. Bake at 375ºF for 10 to 12 minutes. The cookies will be soft, like a cake dough.
