1/2 C. butter
1/2 C. shortening
1 C. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1-3/4 C. flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp.salt
12 oz. Chocolate chips
Chopped nuts, if desired.

Directions:

Beat shortening, butter and sugar until fluffy, add vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together with wire whisk and stir into creamed mixture. Add chips and nuts if desired. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for about 8-10 mins.

This is interesting -- no eggs in the recipe. I remember when I was young and first starting to bake, the chocolate chip cookies I made were very chewy - and as an adult, they seem too cake like to me. Maybe this is the recipe I've been needing to find.
