Cake:
2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
2 eggs
2 1/2 c flour, sifted
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c cocoa (dry)
1 c strong brewed cold coffee (not instant!)
1 c hot water
1 tsp vanilla

Frosting:
3 c powdered sugar
1/3 c butter, room temperature
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cake: Cream shortening and sugar in a large bowl; add eggs and beat mixture well. Sift dry ingredients together in a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture slowly, alternating dry ingredients with coffee. Mix well, then gradually add in hot water and vanilla. Mix well again. Bake in greased and floured 9X13 cake pan for 35-40 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.

Frosting: Mix all ingredients together for several minutes until smooth and creamy. Frost cooled cake.
