1- 14 oz. can stewed tomatoes-cut up, 1 large onion finely chopped (1 cup), 1/2 can chicken broth, 2 tbspns. tomato paste, 3 cloves garlic-minced, 1 bay leaf, 1 tspn. dried Italian seasoning-crushed, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 tspn. black pepper, few dashes of hot sauce, 2 medium green peppers-chopped (1 1/2 cups), 8 oz. frozen peeled cooked medium shrimp (thawed), 1 cup quick-cooking rice, 4 oz. fully cooked smoked turkey sausage (halved lengthwise and cut into 1/4 in. thick slices), lemon wedges (optional)

Combine undrained tomatoes, onion, broth, tomato paste, garlic, bay leaf, italian seasoning, chili powderm black pepper, and hot pepper sauce in large saucepan. Bring mixture to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 5 minutes. Stir in green pepper, shrimp, uncooked rice and sausage. Return to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered about 5 minutes or until mixture is heated through and rice is tender. Stir mixture. Discard bay leaf. Serve with lemon wedges, if desired.
