2 cups dried beans - A mixture if the following beans:
Split pea, barlery, lentil, northerin, navy, small limas, large
limas, kidney, pinto & black eye pea.
2 tablespoons salt.
Ham hock
1 onion chopped
1 quart of tomatoes (canned)
1 tsp. chili powder
2 tbsp lemon juice

Directions:

Soak the beans overnight. In morning drain & add 2 quarts water
& ham hock. Bring to boil. Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours (or until
done) Add onion, tomatoes, chili powder, lemon juice, simmer
another 30 minutes or until done.

You can pick the assortment of beans. I would leave out the black eyed peas. They seem to get mushy. If you want to take out the "pop" add 1 tbsp. castor oil & stir well. I did this and you reallly can't taste the castor oil, and it really works. Mary Elizabeth's Recipe
