2 sticks margarine
1-1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, cream margarine, add sugar. Mix well. Add eggs and vanilla. Gradually add flour, salt and baking soda. Mixing thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350ºF. On countertop, place large sheet of waxed paper and flour lightly. Remove dough from refrigerator and roll out dough and cut in football shapes using football-shaped cookie cutters. Place on a nonstick, lightly greased cookie sheet and sprinkle lightly with blue and gold colored sugar, if desired. Bake for 10 minutes or until brown.
