"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
700 gr lean ground beef
1/2 to 3/4 package of dried onion soup mix
1-2 tbsp beef Bisto gravy mix
1 cup of hot water (may need to add more)
3 cups of corn
4 medium potatoes
1/2 cup grated cheese
splash of milk
1 tbsp butter

**increase or decrease ground beef and potatoes depending on number of servings.

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and boil potatoes.
Place ground beef in a sauce pan with 1/2 cup (approx) of water and cook over med-high heat until 'browned/boiled'. Drain off liquid. Dissolve Bisto in hot water and add to sauce pan with beef. Add onion soup mix. Bring to a boil. You may need to add more water as the gravy mix thinkens. You want the beef mixture to be a thick sauce like consistency..kind of like chili or stew.
If using frozen corn, cook in microwave for 2 min on High. If can corn, no need to prewarm.
Whip potatoes with butter and small amount of milk - whip until creamy.
Pour ground beef into a casserole dish. Layer corn on top, then top with whipped potatoes. Fluff top with a fork to make little peaks. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 min (basically cooking the corn). Remove from oven and sprinkle grated cheese on top. Put back in the oven on broil to lightly brown the tips of the potatoe and melt the cheese. Remove from oven and let sit for 5min before serving.

You can speed up the prep time by precooking the corn.
