1/4c. olive oil or butter

2 garlic cloves, minced

2c. finely chopped onions

3 1/2c. Italian plum tomatoes (one can,1lb.12oz.)

2c. tomato puree (one can, 15oz.)

1 1/2c. tomato paste (one can, 12oz.)

1/2c. water

2tsp. fresh basil

2tsp. fresh oregano

1/2tsp. sage

1tsp. salt

1/2T. sugar

Freshly ground pepper

1c. grated parmesan cheese

Directions:
Directions:
1. Heat oil or butter in a large saucepan and add the garlic and onions. Cook, stirring, until the onions are light brown.

2. Add the tomatoes, tomato puree, tomato paste, water and seasonings. Simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.

3. Add the cheese and cook for 30 minutes longer.
