Wash 1 chicken. (she would soak it- said it rehydrated it to make
it more tender- see I really paid attention!)
1 large apple
1/2 onion
poultry seasoning
**Denise puts herb butter between skin and meat. 1/2 cube
softened butter with poultry seasoning, rosemary, garlic and any
other herb I might be growing

Soak chicken in pan (Usually this is how she would make
sure it was not still frozen. A few hours I think)
Cut into chunks apples and onion. Stuff chicken with this. Put
herb butter between skin and meat. For turkey, put uncooked
bacon slices over breast portion. Cover and bake at 325 until
time. meat thermometer 185. Chicken can be cooked at 375
for 11/2 to 2 hours depending on weight. 6-8 pound turkey
takes about 3 hours, 20 - 24 pound takes 6 1/2 hours.
Uncover 30 minutes before it is done to brown the skin.
