2 c. chopped or shredded cabbage
1 small onion, chopped
3 c. tomato juice
1/4 c. lemon juice (or to taste)
2 T. cooking oil
2 c. cubed ham
1 T. sugar
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot or dutch oven, saute onion in cooking oil until limp and transparent. Add cabbage and stir until cabbage is soft. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer. Cook for 45 minutes to one hour. Serve with sliced french bread.
