2 TBSP either Bacon grease, fat back grease or Crisco
1 1/2 TBSP Flour
Mix together and brown well. Don't burn, use good hot fire. Stir in
3/4 to 1 C. Milk with Salt and Pepper
(or season to taste when finished)

Once flour is browned and the milk is added stir constantly until as thick as you want. (If too much milk, leave heat on and excess milk will boil out)

I enjoyed having Randy's grandfather teach me this. He stated this is what he used to cook for breakfast when he worked logging trees in the N.C. mountains for the saw mills during the depression.
